Thailand (1-0), the eight-time defending champions, have never lost a match in the SEA V.League and are riding a 25-game win streak in the zonal tournament.
Nitura, who made her presence felt off the bench in the loss to Vietnam, will be counted on to inject energy and firepower against a Thai side that has long set the gold standard in Southeast Asian volleyball.
Alas is also dealing with an injury to middle blocker Thea Gagate, making the challenge even tougher.
