Alas Pilipinas Women are not going home empty-handed.
After a couple of futile attempts, the Filipinas spikers carved out a win after downing Indonesia, 25-20, 25-20, 16-25, 25-13, to secure their third straight bronze medal in the SEA V.League Sunday, August 3.
Alas capped the first leg of the competition with a 1-2 record, enough to clinch its spot on the podium.

With their net defense on point, the Philippine contingent seized control in the first two sets before their foes momentarily figured things out in the following frame.
All of a sudden, Alas looked disorganized on both ends, and Indonesia pounced on the chaos.
A horrendous first ball for the Filipinas allowed Indonesia to take an early 16-9 cushion.
There was really nothing Alas could do against their opponents' relentless attack, with Adelea Ajeng scoring on back-to-back hits to pocket the third frame.

But that only fired up Alas.
Come Set 4, the Filipinas got their bearings together, battering Indonesia from all angles to go on a 15-4 tear behind Eya Laure.
Angel Canino then put the finishing touches to the much-needed victory, scoring five the team’s final six points including the medal-sealing hit from the back row.
