Alas Pilipinas Women came alive late against Vietnam before being shut down in their SEA V.League Leg 1 encounter.
Alas Pilipinas Women rallied late but just did not have enough ammunition against Vietnam, 13-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-9, to absorb their second straight loss in the 5th SEA V.League Saturday, August 2.
Reminiscent of their 25-17, 24-26, 20-25, 20-25 loss to defending champion Thailand just a day ago where they took one set, the Filipina spikers started slow this time before stealing the third frame and fading in the end.
Down 0-2, the Nationals dug deep behind timely hits by Eya Laure, Vanie Gandler and Dell Palomata to snatch the third.

Gandler and Laure targeted the same corner pocket consecutively before Palomata tipped the ball to an abandoned post for a precarious 23-22 advantage.
Feeling it, Laure scored through the block for set point before Hoang Trinh gifted Alas a wayward service to allow them to extend the match.
Unfortunately for the Filipinas, the world’s No. 24 team went all business from there.

Behind Bich Tuyen and Thanh Thuy, the Vietnamese squad raced off to an 18-6 outburst to start the fourth frame.
That lead even ballooned to 20-7, putting the game beyond reach for Alas.
Vietnam now totes an immaculate 2-0 record before its highly anticipated match against host team Thailand.
Still winless, the Philippines wraps up the first leg of the tournament against Indonesia Sunday, August 3.
First serve is at 2:30 p.m. (Manila time).
