The DLSU Lady Spikers barely broke a sweat against the UP Fighting Maroons, even as they missed the services of captain Shevana Laput in their UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball match.
No Shevana Laput, no problem.
La Salle put on a clinic against University of the Philippines, 25-12, 25-15, 25-19, to zoom to a 3-0 start in UAAP Season 88 women’s volleyball at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao Wednesday, Feb. 25.
Despite missing the services of Laput, who was under the weather, the Lady Spikers had more than enough firepower to overwhelm the Fighting Maroons.
Angel Canino connived with Shane Reterta and Amie Provido in an all-around effort against the shell-shocked UP, while Mikee Santos filled in the void in Laput’s absence as a first-time starter.

La Salle hit the ground running with a stunning 12-1 start, capped by a Canino crosscourt hit, in the first set. The Lady Spikers stretched their advantage to 16-5 at the first technical timeout.
Provido then delivered the finishing touch to take the first set.

UP tried but it just could not find its rhythm against the Lady Spikers, who cruised to their third straight sweep.
They joined defending champion National U at the first spot with their identical marks.
UP, meanwhile, was humbled after a strong start and slid to 2-1.
