UE’s Casiey Dongallo made history in UAAP Season 86, becoming the league’s best scorer after finishing with a total of 291 points, built on 257 attacks, 25 blocks, and nine aces.

Dongallo’s 291 points are the new UAAP single-season record for a rookie, smashing the previous high of 267 set by Ateneo’s Faith Nisperos two seasons ago.

Casiey’s rookie record did not come easy though.

With one game left in the elimination round, UST super rookie Angge Poyos was actually the first to break Nisperos’ record, scoring a total of 268 points.

But on the final day of the eliminations last Sunday, Dongallo poured 28 in UE’s win over UP. Poyos “only” managed 22 in UST’s victory over DLSU, thus giving Casiey the official rookie record.

Nevertheless, Angge herself had a superb rookie season, finishing second in scoring with 290 points on 249 attacks, 18 blocks, and 23 aces.

Season 86 saw five other 200-point scorers, with Ateneo’s Lyann De Guzman coming in at third with 214 points.

DLSU’s Shevana Laput picked up the slack in the absence of injured MVP Angel Canino and found herself fourth with 210 points, while Vange Alinsug ended up being NU’s top scorer with 209 total points.

The other 200-point scorers were actually Alyssa Solomon with 207 and Bella Belen with 205, further reinforcing the Lady Bulldog’s incredible firepower that allowed them to take the UAAP’s no. 1 seed for the second time in three seasons.

UST’s Regina Jurado (189 points) and Jonna Perdido (178 points) are 8th and 9th, respectively. FEU’s Chenie Tagaod complete the top-10 with 172 points.
