Vanie Gandler and Dawn Macandili are set to don the national colors, having received call-ups to the Philippine women’s volleyball team for the upcoming AVC Challenge Cup.

Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and Cignal announced the inclusion of the two HD Spikers in the national squad on Wednesday, May 15, at the press conference for the national team moniker reveal, Alas Pilipinas.

This will be the first time the 23-year-old Gandler plays for flag and country.

The 27-year-old Catindig, for her part, has represented the tricolor squad multiple times, most recently at the 2021 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championship.

The addition of these two players should provide both offensive firepower and defensive prowess for the Nationals in the AVC showpiece, scheduled to run from May 22 to 29 at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

As an outside hitter, Gandler will be able to provide instant offense while making an impact on floor and net coverage.

On the other hand, Catindig should stabilize the backline and offer invaluable leadership, drawing from her extensive experience.

Also part of the lineup are Denso Airybees and Creamline setter Jia Morado-De Guzman, as well as Choco Mucho ace Sisi Rondina, who earlier confirmed their inclusion in the national team.
