National University made it four victories in a row after holding off Far Eastern University, 25-17, 13-25, 25-17, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs hiked to 4-1 for joint second place with La Salle, while sending the Lady Tamaraws down to fifth place with a 2-3 slate.

Alyssa Solomon spearheaded the offensive thrust once more with a game-high 25 points on 21 attacks, three blocks and an ace.

Bella Belen flaunted her all-around wares with 19 markers, 19 digs and 11 receptions, while Vange Alinsug delivered 16 points.

The prolific NU proved instrumental at the critical juncture of the match that lasted for two hours.

Holding a 2-1 set buffer in the decisive fourth, NU found itself trailing at 9-10 before FEU let open the floodgates.

Through the collective hats of Solomon, Belen and Alinsug, the Lady Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run for a commanding 18-10 lead.

The Lady Tamaraws tried to pump life into their comeback bid, knocking to within four at 18-22 courtesy of Gerz Petallo.

However, Solomon and Alinsug restored order down the stretch and steered NU to the finish line.

Petallo finished with a near triple-double of 17 points, 14 receptions and eight digs that went for naught, while Jean Asis had 11 markers in the losing cause.
