Kyle Negrito's steady playmaking powered Creamline to a dominant sweep of Choco Mucho in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference.
Kyle Negrito was front and center in Creamline’s entry into the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals.
Negrito delivered 18 excellent sets to steer the Cool Smashers to a commanding sweep of the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23, on Thursday, November 13, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Despite the Flying Titans’ late push in the third set, Negrito said the Cool Smashers trusted their system and stayed composed.
“Knowing Choco, 'pag nabigyan sila ng pagkakataon, gina-grab nila,” Negrito said during the post-game press conference. “Happy ako na kahit nagkaroon sila ng run, nakasagot kami. Hindi kami bumigay at natapos namin ‘yung game.”
Getting the job done
It was a clean victory for the Cool Smashers, who finished with just 15 errors in the match, extending their dominance over the Flying Titans with a 17-1 head-to-head record.
American import Courtney Schwan topped with 15 points, while Michele Gumabao and Tots Carlos added nine and seven markers, respectively.

As the team’s primary playmaker, Negrito shared her mindset when feeding Creamline’s talented spikers.
“As a setter, goal ko palagi ay mabigay ‘yung pinakamaganda na sets na kaya nilang pumuntos,” she explained. “Focus lang ako sa trabaho ko na mag-set. Mabigay ko ‘yung pinakamaganda, and bahala na sila sa diskarte nila.”
“Tiwala kami sa isa’t isa na kahit sinong bigyan mo, pupuntos at pupuntos,” she added.
Different lineups, same result
With a handful of Creamline players still on limited minutes, head coach Sherwin Meneses has relied on different combinations throughout the conference.

Nonetheless, Negrito said she approaches every match with the same mindset.
“Nakakatuwa as a setter na kahit sino ipasok ni coach Sherwin, magre-respond,” she said. “Volleyball is a team sport. Kung ano ‘yung effective, doon kami. And kung lahat makakatulong sa pagpuntos, mas okay.”
Negrito and the Cool Smashers look to make it four straight wins when they face the Cignal Super Spikers on Tuesday, November 18, at the Ynares Center Montalban.
