Chery Tiggo rookie Jyne Soreño is coming off of an emphatic debut in the PVL for the Crossovers in PVL on Tour action.
After a strong debut, rookie Jyne Soreño will try to keep the momentum going as the Chery Tiggo Crossovers seek a second straight win when they take on the resurgent Akari Chargers in Pool B of the PVL on Tour on Sunday at the Ynares Center Montalban.
Soreño fired 15 points in her professional debut to help Chery Tiggo recover from a first-set hiccup and cruise past the Capital1 Solar Spikers in four sets.
That rousing victory gave the Crossovers (1-0) a head start in the group, and they now aim to build on that performance against an Akari team still high off a five-set escape against the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
Veteran Grethcel Soltones was instrumental in the Chargers’ breakthrough win, dropping 23 points to help her squad survive a meltdown after squandering a 2-0 set lead.
But with their deep roster and championship pedigree, the Crossovers are expected to be a different challenge. Head coach Norman Miguel will bank on his experienced core and rising talents like Soreño to avoid another slow start and stay unbeaten in pool play.
