The Cignal HD Spikers will be a top-2 seed heading into the quarterfinals of the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference after sweeping the Nxled Chameleons.
The Cignal HD Spikers claimed a top-2 finish entering the playoffs of the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference, sweeping the Nxled Chameleons to end their preliminary schedule, 27-25, 25-20, 25-20, at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
With a 7-1 record, the HD Spikers remain in second place, just behind the still-undefeated Akari Chargers. Depending on the Akari-Farm Fresh game, Cignal can still end up as the no. 1 team.
Down 18-19 in the third set, the HD Spikers went a 3-0 run behind Gel Cayuna and Geneveve Casugod’s back-to-back dumps.
Casugod and Chin Basas then pushed Cignal further ahead at 23-20, before Cayuna connected on a service ace, followed by Ces Molina’s off-the-block hit to seal the win.
Import MJ Perez led the HD Spikers with 17 points, while Molina added 11 markers.
Cignal also saw plenty of contributions from Cayuna, Jacqueline Acuna, and Basas, who contributed nine, eight, and seven points, respectively.
Meegan Hart had 16 points for the Chameleons in the loss. Jho Maraguinot contributed 15 markers and 10 excellent receptions.
