But even before the next round, here’s a closer look at notable numbers and players who are setting the pace statistically in the preseason tilt.
1. Erika Santos leads all scorers
Santos has emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with 87 total points and a solid 37.50% attack success rate, cementing her status as one of the league’s most efficient offensive weapons.
2. PLDT dominates the blocking department
At the net, the High Speed Hitters have dominated the blocking department, placing four players in the Top 10.
Majoy Baron headlines the list with 0.81 blocks per set, followed by Mika Reyes in third with 0.63. Teammates Kiesha Bedonia and Kianna Dy also make the cut, ranking seventh and tenth, respectively, showcasing PLDT’s formidable presence at the net.
3. Kath Arado reigns supreme on defense
Defensively, Arado continues to set the gold standard for liberos.
The PLDT star leads the league in both digging and receiving, averaging 5.38 digs per set, well ahead of Cignal’s Buding Duremdes (4.94). In reception, Arado boasts an impressive 63.16% efficiency, far surpassing second-placer Anngela Nunag of Chery Tiggo at 49.54%.
4. Akari’s standouts shine despite team struggles
While wins have been hard to come by, the Chargers boast strong individual numbers.
Eli Soyud ranks ninth among scorers (71 points), while Grethcel Soltones is sixth in spiking efficiency at 33.33%. Soyud, Ivy Lacsina, and Ced Domingo all feature in the Top 10 blockers list.
Defensively, Dani Ravena sits fourth in digs (3.80 per set), while Kamille Cal ranks fourth in setting with 5.85 excellent sets per frame.
It should only be a matter of time before Akari can finally get its groove under head coach Tina Salak.
5. Alyssa Valdez proves her defensive mettle
And while some doubted her defensive chops, Valdez has proven the critics wrong.
The Creamline superstar is just outside the Top 10 in digging at 2.26 digs per set and holds the 10th spot in reception with a 35.12% efficiency, proving her all-around game can still be counted upon.
