After dealing with some knee issues, Mean Mendrez is back and provided the necessary lift for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in their crucial five-set victory over the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Mean Mendrez may have finally found her form for the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
Needing a win to keep their quarterfinal hopes alive, Mendez delivered 18 points built on 14 attacks, two blocks, and two service aces to lead Choco Mucho to victory over the reeling Chery Tiggo Crossovers in five sets.
“For me, super laking bagay sakin na pagkatiwalaan ng coaches and teammates ko na laging nandiyan sa likod na feel na feel ko talaga na naka-suporta sila,” Mendrez said during the post-game press conference.
“Parang always lang naman na kung sino nandiyan kailangan mag-step up talaga pag binigyan ka ng chance ng coaches mo. Sa training palang parang malaking bagay na ‘yung tiwala na binigay sakin ng coaches lately,” she added.
The 25-year-old outside hitter had her first start for the Flying Titans in the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference after dealing with knee issues.
Mendrez signed with the Choco Mucho back in January before the All-Filipino Conference.
Despite a slow start with the Flying Titans, Mendrez is glad to be back on track and in form again.
“Nung mga [start] ng conference parang nag-on and off ‘yung tuhod ko kasi like coming from injury. Bale pumasok na ‘yung injury tas [nawala] ‘yung confidence sa sarili,” Mendrez told One Sports.
“Bumalik lang ‘yung confidence ko and everything and ‘yung form okay na din,” she added.
Mendrez and the rest of the Flying Titans will look to finish strong in their remaining games and secure a playoff spot.
First up for Choco Mucho will be their rivals, the Creamline Cool Smashers, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, August 17.
