Regine Diego's mark in the PVL and the volleyball community will only spark the rise of more female coaches.
PVL's first and only female coach Regine Diego ended her first conference with the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers with a huge bronze finish after sweeping the PLDT High Speed Hitters in the All-Filipino Conference's Battle for Third.
Coincidentally, Diego's first win at the helm last February was also against PLDT—a five set-thriller that she said "felt like a championship game." Fast forward to the end of the conference and Diego has successfully steered the Cargo Movers to the franchise's best finish in the PVL. F2 Logistics finished 6th and 5th in their first two appearance in the pro league.
The gravity of her achievements—the monumental bronze for F2 Logistics as well as being the trailblazer for female coaches in the league—is not lost to Diego. In a heartwarming Tweet, the coach with many hairstyles expressed her gratitude.
"Whatever happens in the future, I just want to say it. I'm happy to be a part of this," Diego said.
She finished the message with, "Women represent!"
With coach Ramil de Jesus back on the sidelines of F2 Logistics, it's still unsure whether Diego will keep the top post for the Cargo Movers.
Some fans want to Diego to continue making history with the team in yellow.
