Winners of back-to-back games, the latest against Blackwater, 103-85, just two days ago, Ginebra improved to 4–4 in a tie for the seventh spot with Meralco.

Abarrientos paced the Gin Kings with 15 points, while Stephen Holt and Jeremiah Gray chipped in 12 apiece. Jayson David also made his presence felt with 11 points and eight rebounds.

“I wouldn’t say we’re groping for form. But we’re still searching ourselves a little bit at this point,” said Ginebra coach Tim Cone.

With the playoffs looming, Cone emphasized urgency as his squad tries to build a winning streak to secure a quarterfinal berth.

While a Top Four finish — and the coveted twice-to-beat incentive — remains a long shot, Cone made it clear that every remaining game is a playoff game.

“We have to get lucky. A lot of things will have to break our way for that to happen. But the bottom line is, we’ve got to continue to win games. So every game for us is a playoff game,” said Cone.

Facing the free-falling Dyip, Ginebra sees an opportunity to stay hot — but must avoid complacency as it continues its push toward the postseason.
