Marcio Lassiter only needed one make to surpass James Yap in the all-time three-pointers made list in San Miguel’s PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup match against NorthPort on Sunday, April 21.

He made four.

Lassiter thus moved to solo fourth in the all-time list with 1,197 triples, now only trailing LA Tenorio (1,218 and counting), Allan Caidic (1,242), and Jimmy Alapag (1,250) after the Beermen dismantled the Batang Pier, 120-100 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

“Just really blessed and thankful that I haven’t been injured as much and I was able to contribute to the team and make it to this point,” said Lassiter, who finished with 14 points.

Lassiter was made aware of the impending feat in the aftermath of San Miguel’s win over Converge on Friday, April 19. But he insisted it was just another day in the office for him heading into Sunday’s contest.

“I knew I had to be aggressive. You know how it is, when you get that first one to go, you kinda keep going. I was fortunate to get my first one and it just kinda went from there,” he said with a smile.

At the rate things are going, there’s the possibility the 36-year-old sniper could even snatch the top spot from Alapag. He is under no illusion it would be easy, though.

“It seems like it’s right there but it’s not gonna be easy,” he said. “Not really thinking about that. I’m more focused on the win. If I can make a few, that will be great. Slowly chip away and we’ll see where it goes from there.”

Right now, he’s just thankful for his teammates past and present who have helped him reach this new milestone.

“I just got great teammates. We’re all sharing the ball well. We had 31 assists, that’s the way to do it. My game is not to take one-on-one shots,” he said.

“It’s always from my teammates. Past and present teammates were the ones who got me to this point. I couldn’t do it without them.”
