When asked about what has changed for Terrafirma in the ongoing PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup, Isaac Go kept it simple.

Belief.

“The belief. I think a lot of times there was that belief na, ‘Ah, Terrafirma, easy win 'yan,” Go said.

“We came in the conference and said ‘Hey, we got the pieces, we started early, the coaches worked us, the players talked, we bonded, we believed.”

Though the Dyip won only half of their first eight games, that belief that they can win each game has been prominent.

It was none more evident last April 7 when Terrafirma notched its fourth win at the expense of no less than perennial contender Ginebra, 91-85.

Three days later, the Dyip made things rough for another championship team in San Miguel, but the Beermen pulled off the 113-110 escape act. Go was especially spectacular in that match as he finished with career-high 21 points on seven triples, including three in the back-and-forth fourth period.

That’s why there’s no doubt in San Miguel coach Jorge Gallent’s mind the playoff-starved Dyip, in Gen Z’s parlance, for real.

After the win over Ginebra, Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel made sure to temper expectations and reminded his wards to take it one game at a time.

“Four wins, hindi pa to 'yung makaka-pasok sa quarterfinals. We have four more games,” said Cardel.

Though there are still plenty of ups and downs, Go is optimistic this Terrafirma team can go places.

“After we lost to San Miguel, we weren’t like dabog or anything. We played well, put ourselves on the spot, it so happened we fell short,” Go said.

“We just believed that we have the pieces… again, it’s fun to win. Para maiba naman yung look sa Terrafirma franchise.”
