The FiberXers barged into the win column, at last.
As losses piled up in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, frustration within the Converge FiberXers camp also grew. But the FiberXers continued to do what they needed to, working hard in practice day in and day out.
“It was tough. Everybody was disappointed, everybody was getting frustrated because of the results of our past games. But we just continued preparing practicing hard,” said coach Aldin Ayo.
And, finally on Wednesday, the FiberXers arrested their six-game skid after a hard-fought 103-94 overtime win over the Terrafirma Dyip.
Asked about it after the game at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, Ayo kept it simple.
“We’re able to make stops and hit our shots,” he said.
The win, though, had a lot to do with new import Jamil Wilson, who looked more comfortable against Terrafirma compared to his first game last week.
Wilson said one week made a world of difference for him and the FiberXers.
“Chemistry is the biggest thing in sports in general. Just having a week of practice under my belt makes a world of difference,” said Wilson, who finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists as the FiberXers continued to be undefeated against the Dyip.

The challenge now is how to keep things going with a tough schedule ahead for the FiberExers. Converge will face the red-hot Meralco Bolts and top team Magnolia Hotshots in their next two games before taking a Christmas vacation.
Wilson seems unperturbed, though, knowing it’s just another day in the office.
“We took a big step tonight. Same thing we got a game Sunday. We gotta continue to work,” he said.
