Philadelphia 76ers' Paul George is suspended without pay for 25 games after violating the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program.
Philadelphia’s Paul George is suspended 25 games without pay for violating the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Program, the league announced on Sunday (PH time).
The suspension will take effect starting with the 76ers’ game against the New Orleans Pelicans also on Sunday.
In a statement via NBA insider Shams Charania, George took full responsibility for his actions that led to the penalty.
“Over the past few years, I’ve discussed the importance of mental health, and in the course of recently seeking treatment for an issue of my own, I made the mistake of taking an improper medication,” George said.
This season is George’s second in Philadelphia, and in 27 games he’s averaged 16.0 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.
