On the night he celebrated his 30th birthday, Jordan Heading didn’t get the crucial Game 5 win as a gift.

Heading and the rest of TNT bowed to San Miguel, 82-96, to go down 2-3 in the best-of-seven PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup Finals at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Friday, Jan. 30.

“I thought they cranked up their pressure really well. I thought they did a good job at that. Credit to them,” said Heading.

The Beermen crawled back from an early 16-point deficit, flipping the script to post their own 18-point lead, 77-59, late in the third en route to securing the pivotal victory.

When San Miguel got it going in the middle quarters, outscoring the Tropang 5G, 58-32, it just got too hard for the Tropang 5G to stop the Beermen.

But that’s a thing of the past now.

Heading and the rest of TNT are now setting their sights on Game 6, bent on forcing a rubber match against the defending champion.

“We're just going to go back to the drawing board and see what the coaches see in the film,” Heading said.

“We've just got to get as much rest as possible and get ready for another dogfight.”

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
