JD Cagulangan got the last laugh over Carl Tamayo and the Changwon LG Sakers in a duel of former UP Fighting Maroons in the KBL.
The clutch gene continued to flow for JD Cagulangan, serving up the game-winning assist for the Suwon KT Sonicboom against defending KBL champions Changwon LG Sakers, 76-75, at the Suwon KT Sonicboom Arena on Sunday.
Cagulangan inbounded for the final possession and found Derrick Williams, who then hit the game-winning jumper for Suwon.
It was the fifth assist from Cagulangan for the game, who also finished with six points and two rebounds.
His game-winning pass negated a 21-point outing from Tamayo, who shot 9-of-12 from inside the arc. He also had two rebounds and two assists for the LG Sakers.
Late-game hero Williams likewise had 21 markers for Suwon, to go along with five rebounds and two assists.
Suwon thus extended its winning streak to four games and moved above .500 with a 15-14 mark.
Meanwhile, the LG Sakers were handed their 8th loss of the season and now sport a 20-8 slate. Still, Changwon leads the league, with the Anyang Red Boosters and the Wonju DB Promy trailing in the top-3.
