From competing for Team Mongolia on Netflix’s Physical: Asia to winning the ONE bantamweight world title, Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu has reached the pinnacle of his MMA career.
Once a competitor for Team Mongolia on Netflix’s Physical: Asia, Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu is now a MMA world champion.
Baatarkhuu captured the bantamweight crown with a fourth-round rear-naked choke over Brazil’s Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade in the main event of ONE Fight Night 38 Saturday, December 6, at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In the fourth round, Baatarkhuu came out aggressively, cornering Andrade and taking him down in search of a submission.
When the opportunity arose, he locked in a rear-naked choke and forced his Brazilian opponent to tap out at the1:33 mark of the round.
The win improved “The Tormentor's” record to 14-3 and cemented his place as Mongolia's bonafide MMA star .
Meanwhile, Filipino fighter Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado lost to Uzbek challenger Avazbek “Ninzya” Kholmirzaev by second-round TKO.
Miado started strong, dropping Kholmirzaev with an overhand right in the first round.
But Kholmirzaev recovered and unleashed a punishing ground-and-pound assault in the second round, forcing the referee to stop the fight at 4:53.
The victory improved Kholmirzaev’s record to 15-2 and extended his winning streak to six, while Miado fell to 7-9.
