Lito Adiwang impresses in his flyweight debut, while Carlo Bumina-ang endures a tough loss in a night of contrasting results for Filipino MMA fighters at ONE Fight Night 37.
It was a day of mixed fortunes for Filipino MMA fighters at ONE Fight Night 37 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Lito Adiwang made a statement in his flyweight debut, but the event proved bitter for fellow Filipino Carlo Bumina-ang.
The "Thunder Kid's" deadly left hook sent Mastromarini crashing to the mat, after which he unleashed a flurry of ground-and-pound strikes that forced the referee to stop the fight at in the closing moments of the opening round.
Adiwang’s win raised his record to 10–4, erasing the sting of his unanimous decision defeat to Keito Yamakita in February.
The story was different for Bumina-ang, who suffered a tough submission loss to Elbek Alyshov in their bantamweight clash.
Alyshov locked in a guillotine choke with 1:44 seconds in the second round that left Bumina-ang with no choice but to tap out.
The 31-year-old, who had entered the fight riding back-to-back wins over Song Min Jong and Mastromarini, now falls to 7–2.
