Meralco, Metro Manila's lone electric power distribution company, produced a video advisory on the importance of conserving electricity for the month of April. The producers of the 58-second featurette got pretty creative as they decided to get the help of the PVL's only female coach, Regine Diego. At the 0:21 mark, the mentor who led the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers to a historic podium finish in the 2023 PVL All-Filipino Conference made her appearance.

The feisty mentor played herself, and the plot was her giving a pregame pep talk to her team. But instead of drawing up volleyball plays, Diego was out there giving reminders on how to use Meralco’s Power Alerts, which the company announces across social media.

“’Pag summer, malakas tayo sa kuryente. Mas hirap ang makina ng cooling appliances natin. Posibleng magkulang ng supply dahil ‘di sapat ang power reserves. Kaya naglalabas si Meralco ng Power Alerts sa social media at sa text,” Coach Regine said in her opening lines.

Here are some of the few important things to remember as outlined by the De La Salle Lady Spikers legend in her short but sweet spiel:

  • Meralco’s yellow alert means power reserves are low. Brownouts are possible.
  • Red alert means power supply is not enough. Brownouts are to be expected.
  • We need to conserve energy.

Coach Regine is a great coach. But her acting chops are not bad as well. No surprise then that F2 ace libero Dawn Macandili Catindig dropped the classic “’wag mo kaming kalimutan” as she posted her coach’s video advisory, which is uploaded on Meralco’s official YouTube channel.
