As one door closes, another one opens for Francis Escandor.

The former DLSU Green Archer has now signed with the Phoenix Fuel Masters after parting ways with Rain or Shine last month.

Escandor finalized the deal with his agent Marvin Espiritu, while team governor Raymond Zorrilla and Phoenix manager Paolo Bugia were also present on the side of Phoenix.

Selected 13th overall in last year's Draft, the one-time UAAP champion struggled to break into the rotation under head coach Yeng Guiao during his rookie season.

He appeared in just two games during the Elasto Painters' recent semifinal run in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup, which ended with a six-game loss to the TNT Tropang 5G.

In a move to sign Stanley Pringle, Rain or Shine unloaded talent, which ended up being Escandor and Mark Borboran.

Meanwhile, Phoenix has struggled to find consistency since reaching the semifinals of the Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup.

The team missed the playoffs in four consecutive tournaments after that, compiling a dismal 8-25 record in Season 49.
