The Philippines is a basketball-crazy country, but football has slowly been gaining a foothold among Filipinos. Thanks to the FIFA World Cup-bound women's football team, better known as the Filipinas, and of course, the Philippine Azkals.

And former Azkals captain Stephan Schrock, who now coaches the Azkals Development Team, continues to contribute to the growing popularity of the beautiful game in the country.

Schrock recently hopped on Instagram for an “Ask Me Anything” segment, where netizens grabbed the opportunity to connect with the footballer.

One asked whether it’s too late to start playing football at 25 years old—to which Schrock replied with a simple answer.

"Never [too] late," said the retired midfielder.

Another asked how defenders can train by themselves in the gym. To that, Shrock gave a useful tip.

"Don't get bulky, get strong," he said.

Perhaps football aspirants will now have to refine their workout regimen.

Unsurprisingly, someone had to ask the Azkals legend about the state of Philippine football.

Shrock simply said that there’s not enough room to discuss that on his Instagram story, but he did say that there’s always room for improvement.

"Not everything is bad, really not."

While football remains outside of the Mount Rushmore of sports in the Philippines, it's on his way there. One reason is Shrock, who gave his everything for the love of the sport.
