Optimism remains that Milwaukee Bucks franchise player Giannis Antetokounmpo will be part of the Greek national team that will visit Manila for the FIBA World Cup.

Greece has submitted its 22-man preliminary lineup for FIBA’s flagship event, and the name of the two-time NBA MVP is still included. Can we get a ‘’Hell yeah” from Filipino Giannis fans out there?

Earlier this month, the Greek Freak underwent a routine surgical procedure on his left knee, putting his availability for the global hoops summit in question

But for now, things are looking good for the Greek squad as Antetokounmpo remains part of the pool.

Another reason to believe that the 2021 NBA Finals MVP could be present in the Philippines’ staging of the game’s biggest tourney is his love for a certain dish that is a staple of the Filipino street food culture.

In a recent upload from his social media pages, Giannis, just like the way he plays, intensely declared his love for chicken feet while he was in China for a promotional tour.

“I love chicken feet. I love chicken feet. Man, I love chicken feet,” Antetokounmpo animatedly said.

“I came here in 2018 and I tried for the first time chicken feet. It was a little bit spicy, and for five years I've been craving chicken feet. So yes, I've tried. Where do I go? I love the texture,” he added.

The place to go might be Manila. Chicken feet are popular in the Philippines, and he might just love an Adobo version of it. Fingers-crossed, the seven-time NBA All-Star will be in Greece’s final roster come August 25.

If things go smoothly, Giannis will join the Greek nationals as they play Team USA, New Zealand, and Jordan in Group C.
