Alas Pilipinas Men show the way against Fil-foreign prospects at the Serve Spike Unite 2 exhibition in New York.
Alas Pilipinas Men proved their strength in a straight-sets victory over Fil-foreign prospects at the Serve Spike Unite 2, winning, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18, at the Saint Francis Preparatory School Gym in New York on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).
Alas Pilipinas, bannered by the likes of Steve Rotter, Marck Espejo, Jau Umandal, among others, drubbed Fil-Nation Select — a team that featured prospects vying for a national team spot.
The match, though an exhibition showing, is pivotal to the national team's build up for the looming FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship that will be hosted by the Philippines in September.
Before competing in Worlds, where they will be play in Pool A against Iran, Egypt, and Tunisia, Alas Men will also be seeing action in an invitational tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum featuring teams from South Korea, Indonesia, and Thailand.
They will also test their mettle at the AVC Men’s Nations Cup in Bahrain from June 17 to 24.
During their stay in New York, Alas Men also conducted a volleyball clinic for Fil-Am kids.
