Alex Eala is out of the US Open after suffering a straight-set loss to world no. 95 Cristina Bucsa in the second round.
What comes up, must come down.
Alex Eala was dealt with a quick reality check at the US Open, taking a 4-6, 3-6 loss from Cristina Bucsa on Thursday (PH time).
Despite entering the match as the higher-ranked player, Eala couldn’t quite capitalize on her momentum from a breakthrough victory over world no. 14 Clara Tauson on Monday.
With the loss, Eala bowed out of the final Grand Slam of the season, with Bucsa moving on to take on the winner between Lulu Sun and world no. 21 Elise Mertens.
As the Grand Slam calendar draws to a close for Eala, the Filipina ace compiled an initial record of 1-3, which includes her debut appearances at Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
