The NU Bulldogs continue to impress after a hard-fought 76-69 victory against the UST Growling Tigers, improving their perfect UAAP Season 88 run to 3-0 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on Wednesday, October 1.

Trailing 66-67 late in regulation, NU answered with five quick points thanks to crucial back-to-back baskets from Gelo Santiago and Jake Figueroa for a slim 70-67 cushion with under two minutes left.

Moments later, Figueroa hit a dagger triple that put the Bulldogs ahead at 73-69 with 38 seconds left, which allowed the Bulldogs to grab a share of the lead with fellow unbeaten Ateneo Blue Eagles.

Figueroa erupted for 22 points and nine rebounds to banner NU, while Omar John and PJ Palacielo chipped in 10 markers apiece.

Meanwhile, Nic Cabanero poured 19 markers in a losing effort for UST, who dropped to 2-1 and is now in joint-fourth with the DLSU Green Archers.

UST is set to face the winless UE Red Warriors on Saturday, October 4, at the same venue, while NU will meet the defending champions UP Fighting Maroons in the men's basketball main event on the same day.
