The coach said there’s so much work to do for the Golden Tigresses.
“Sila pa rin number 1.”
That’s what University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses coach Kungfu Reyes said in the aftermath of a thrilling 25-19, 14-25, 25-18, 25-12 win over De La Salle University Lady Spikers in the UAAP Season 85 Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Sunday.
Indeed, the Lady Spikers remain on top with a 9-1 win-loss record while Adamson University Falcons (7-2) and UST (7-3) are closing in in the standings.
“Hindi biro kalaban si La Salle,” said Reyes, whose team struggled mightily in the second frame with La Salle’s towering frontline.
“Ano’t ano man, pag titingala ka, 'pag titignan mo standings, sila pa rin nasa number 1. Natalo man sila ngayon, pero still, sila number 1.”
That doesn’t mean Reyes is not happy with the victory.
In fact, it was a much-needed victory as the Tigresses shoot for the second seed heading into the playoffs.
As impressive as their performance in the win was, Reyes said there’s still so much work for his wards.
“Sa amin naman, siyempre naghahanap kami ng panalo. Luckily tumama naman mga galaw naming ngayon. Though ang dami pa ring dapat i-correct,” he said.
