The Petro Gazz Angels climb to the No. 5 spot heading into the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference quarterfinals after outlasting the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
The Petro Gazz Angels will officially enter the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference as the No. 5 seed after getting past the PLDT High Speed Hitters in four sets, 25-21, 27-25, 23-25, 25-21, on Thursday, November 20, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Falling short of the sweep, Brooke Van Sickle and Lindsey Vander Weide took matters into their own hands after steering the Angels to an early 8-5 lead in the fourth frame
With momentum on their side, Petro Gazz built its biggest lead in the set at 19-13 after Van Sickle’s kill block on Kianna Dy.
PLDT tried to mount a comeback, but the deficit proved to be too much as Jonah Sabete and MJ Phillips came alive to put Petro Gazz at match point, before Vander Weide eventually sealed the crucial win.
Vander Weide led the way with her conference-high of 35 points, while Van Sickle added 27 markers.
Petro Gazz will go up against the defending champion Creamline Cool Smashers in the quarterfinals, while PLDT, which dropped to the No. 3 spot, will face the 6th-ranked Cignal Super Spikers.
