PLDT kept pace in what is now a three-team race for first placce in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference after pushing Chery Tiggo EV to the brink of elimination.
RODRIGUEZ, Rizal — The PLDT High Speed Hitters strengthened their bid for the no. 1 spot in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference after turning back the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers, 26-28, 25-12, 25-16, 25-13, on Saturday, November 15, at the Ynares Center Montalban.
Already assured of a quarterfinal berth, PLDT climbed to 6-1, level with Farm Fresh and ZUS Coffee, but remains ahead in points and set ratio heading into the final stretch of the second round.
After a narrow opening-set loss, the High Speed Hitters took full control, overwhelming the Crossovers with their blocking and attacking prowess, led by Savi Davison, who finished with a career-high 36 points on 33 attacks, one block, and two service aces.
In the third set, the two-time PVL champions pulled away early after an 11-3 start, capped by import Anastasiia Bavykina’s spike.
Despite the Crossovers’ efforts to extend the match, the duo of Davison and Bavykina proved to be too much as the High Speed Hitters powered their way to victory.
Chery Tiggo EV, now in a must-win situation, will have to rely on a Petro Gazz loss later in the night to keep its quarterfinal hopes alive.
PLDT will now gear up for a crucial showdown against the Petro Gazz Angels on Thursday, November 20, at the Mall of Asia Arena, with the top seed still up for grabs.
Chery Tiggo faces a daunting challenge against the streaking Farm Fresh Foxies on the same day.
