The PLDT High Speed Hitters overcame an early challenge from Galeries Tower, leaning on dominant blocking and late heroics from Savi Davison and Anastasiia Bavykina to secure a four-set win in Ilocos Sur.
The PLDT High Speed Hitters kept their strong form going in the 2025 PVL Reinforced Conference after dispatching the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-19, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21, on Saturday, November 8, at the Candon City Arena in Ilocos Sur.
After Galeries Tower managed to take its first set win of the tournament in the second frame, PLDT regained control behind its dominant blocking.
The High Speed Hitters’ defense came through once again, with Savi Davison powering a 7-1 run that broke a 12-all deadlock in the fourth set.
With a commanding lead, the two-time PVL champions held on to secure their third straight win of the tournament with Majoy Baron delivering the final two points from the middle.
The victory further solidified PLDT’s hold near the top of the standings with a 5-1 record, while Galeries Tower is officially eliminated from playoff contention at 0-6.
Davison was hailed the Player of the Game with 21 points built on 18 attacks and three blocks.
Beyond the court, the weekend doubleheader in Ilocos Sur also turned into a meaningful event.
PVL President Ricky Palou announced that he and Candon City Mayor Eric Singson have agreed to donate all proceeds from the Candon City Arena matches to assist families affected by Typhoon Tino in Cebu.
PLDT will be back next Saturday, November 15, as the High Speed Hitters take on the Chery Tiggo Crossovers, while Galeries Tower goes up against the Farm Fresh Foxies, also on the same day.
