Eliud Kipchoge capped his New York City Marathon debut, completing the major marathons, and now he is turning his focus to a global World Tour and marathons across all continents.
"Let us run together and be as one."Those words, shared by Eliud Kipchoge after his New York City Marathon debut, capture the spirit behind one of the greatest marathon careers in history.
On Sunday, the 2016 and 2020 Olympic marathon champion and former world record holder (2018–2023) finished 2:14:36, placing 17th, and officially joined the Seven Star Hall of Fame, having now completed all six World Marathon Majors.
“To become a Six Star Finisher in New York City is a beautiful achievement. I fully enjoyed running in the streets today, hearing so much cheering and seeing so much passion… Let us run together and be as one,” he wrote on Facebook.
Earlier this year, he ran the Sydney Marathon in August, finishing ninth in 2:08:31, marking the first time he attempted three major marathons in a single season.
What’s next for Kipchoge?
As part of his World Tour, he will run seven marathons across all seven continents over the next two years, aiming to bring people together through running.
The project also supports the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation, funding educational and environmental initiatives worldwide.
“Seven marathons on all seven continents, together with you! I want to compete not only for records but for the people,” Kipchoge wrote.
“I want to push myself, inspire others, give back, and show that no human is limited in every corner of the world. A running world is a happy world,” he continued.
Kipchoge’s New York finish could be his last World Marathon Major, hinting at the possibility of closing this chapter of his marathon career.
His upcoming World Tour and the Eliud Kipchoge Foundation will see him run seven marathons across all seven continents while supporting educational and environmental initiatives worldwide.
