After losing to Farm Fresh, Eya Laure and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers turned their heartbreak to strength in order to give Creamline its first loss in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
When the Chery Tiggo Crossovers suffered a massive upset loss to the young Farm Fresh Foxies a week ago, a palpable sense of heartbreak clouded the dugout.
One by one, the Crossovers made their way out of the FilOil EcoOil Arena with a grim look and fire in their eyes. Their collective goal was obvious -- to bounce back.
On Saturday afternoon, Eya Laure and Chery Tiggo did just that after dumping their frustrations on defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex.
"Mas hungry -- 'yun 'yung term talaga na laging pinapaalala sa amin ni Tyang Aby, na maging hungry kami sa mga game. Kasi wake-up call 'yung nangyari sa amin sa Farm Fresh," bared the younger Laure, who showed the way with a game-high 14 points.
"'Yun talaga, ramdam na ramdam namin 'yung gising."

It was only fitting that streak-busting Eya Laure helped deliver the match-winning point.
And it was an emphatic bounce-back win, to say the least.
After all, the stunner snapped the 19-game win streak of Creamline, which last tasted defeat at the hands of Kurashiki Ablaze in the 2023 Invitational Conference Finals.
The Crossovers also become the first team to deal the Cool Smashers a straight-set defeat since the league turned pro.
In retrospect, the last time Creamline sustained a sweep was almost five years ago. This happened back in May 26, 2019 during the 2019 Reinforced Conference, when Petro Gazz won, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22.

For such a resounding rebound, Laure could not help but marvel at the magnitude of their recent success.
"Creamline, sila 'yung nasa taas. Kami nasa baba ngayon. Sabi nga ng coaches, mas hungry dapat kami na abutin 'yung taas kasi sila 'yung champion eh, defending champion. Siyempre, andun pa rin 'yung respect," the UST product said.
Laure also credited the coaches for guiding them every step of the way.
"Grabe, 'di ko na ma-explain, pero nandun talaga 'yung coaches to help us kung ano yung kulang sa team, kung ano 'yung dapat trabahuin pa. Kumbaga, kung di rin dahil sa coaches namin, di rin namin kakayanin talaga," she shared.
With the victory already in the rear view mirror, Laure and the Crossovers now set their sights on their next assignment against Capital1 on March 21, Thursday.
