Eya Laure and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers are taking their heartbreaking defeat to the Farm Fresh Foxies in the PVL All-Filipino Conference in stride.
Eya Laure and the Chery Tiggo Crossovers simply couldn't handle the upset-conscious Farm Fresh Foxies Saturday night.
The Crossovers struggled to crank up their usually high-octane engine, faltering against the gritty Foxies in straight sets and suffering arguably the biggest upset in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference so far.
After two successive victories to start its campaign, Chery Tiggo has now fallen to a 2-2 record, making the deflating loss all the more heartbreaking.
Still, the Crossovers are taking all of their recent setbacks in stride.
"Talagang wake-up call for us na kailangan pa namin mag trabaho. Mas more pa sa kung ano 'yung tinatrabaho namin sa training, sa ensayo namin araw-araw," the younger of the Laure sisters told One Sports.
Chery Tiggo had a hard time keeping in step with the balanced offensive thrust of Farm Fresh.
Eya was the lone double-digit scorer for the Crossovers with 11. Save for Mylene Paat, who managed eight points, the usual contributors could not find their groove.
Team captain Aby Maraño, Ara Galang, EJ Laure and Shaya Adorador only tallied four markers each, with playmakers Jasmine Nabor and Alina Bicar groping for form.
"Kailangan pa namin mag jell as a team, of course. Malaking bagay 'yung addition nila Tyang Aby, nila Ate Ara, of course. Pero siyempre nandun pa rin talaga sa kailangan namin mag jell," Eya shared.
"Kakabalik lang din ni Ate Alina, so nandun 'yung magsama sama kami na maglaro as one for Chery Tiggo, of course," she added.
As stinging as the defeat, the Crossovers are going to use the heartbreak as fuel to kick their performance into higher gear.
"Babalik kami ulit sa drawing board and sisimulan namin sa training para maka-recover din 'yung isa't isa siyempre mabigat na talo rin talaga," the younger Laure said.
"Kung paano kami nasaktan this loss, siguro 'yun 'yung ihuhugot namin for the next game."
Laure and the Crossovers will have several days to regroup as they plot their bounce-back attempt versus the surging Creamline Cool Smashers on March 16, Saturday, at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex.
