Not everyone can do what she did on Saturday.

It takes a special kind of strong to play through the death of a loved one.
Think about the strength it will take to compartmentalize all that pain, all that grief, all that longing. Imagine having to hold back those tears, that urge to just retreat in solitude, to shut off from the world, to just cry all the pain away.
Yes, it takes a special kind of strong to play through the death of a loved one.
Remy Palma of the Petro Gazz Angels did just that on Saturday, suiting up in their 25-15, 25-23, 18-25, 25-19 loss to the Cignal HD Spikers.
And, no, she didn’t just suit up for the sake of suiting up. She played in all four sets, chipped in 11 points for Petro Gazz, and played her heart out—like she always does. Like there was nothing wrong. As if her heart wasn’t shattered.
X (formerly Twitter) user @itsmeeyin couldn’t help but give Palma a fitting salute.
“So much respect for Rem Palma, still playing despite losing her father today,” she wrote on X.

User @BlinkOfBaeMon could not have described Palma’s courageous stand any better.
“Damn. Her dedication and professionalism is (sic) on another level,” wrote @BlinkOfBaeMon. “Prayers for you and for your entire family Rem Palma.”

It’s basically the same sentiment shared by user @JellaForever823, who wrote on X: “@_RemPalma napakastrong mo kase khit may pinagdadaanan kang sobrang bigat andyan ka pa din naglalaro kasama ng mga teammates mo.”

“Sobrang bigat” would be an understatement. She just played through her father’s death—the man she called “The real MVP” on her personal Facebook account.
On Saturday, against Cignal, she was the real MVP, results be damned.
Because it takes a special kind of strong to play through the death of a loved one. Palma just did it.
