Michelle Morente responds to social media bashing

Michelle Morente responds to social media bashing

As they say, “When you have haters, you’re doing something right.”

Michelle Morente has been having quite a season for the PLDT High Speed Hitters, leading the team in the scoring department.

But some cannot seem to look over Morente’s past, specifically her collegiate days.

The PLDT outside hitter first played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles before transferring to the De La Salle Lady Spikers. When she made the switch to DLSU, many wondered if it was due to her grades, as Ateneo is known to hold their student-athletes to a certain standard when it comes to academics.

Morente has been honest about her journey. She even posted about it on her Instagram.

"From na-kick out dahil sa grades sa ADMU, transferred to DLSU, pero eto tayo ngayon graduate na," she wrote.

One netizen, however, took it a bit too far. This person was seen on Twitter debating with other netizens and hurling insults at Lady Spikers.

"Priority kasi ng Ateneo mag-aral. Hindi katulad sa La Salle puro paglalaro na lang alam," netizen @mich_delosreyes wrote.

Later on, the same netizen dragged Morente's name into the conversation, prompting the PVL star to respond.

"Kahit pasado mo mga klase mo, eh kung puro 1 naman, paano ka makakaabot ng 2.50," said Morente as she explained the real score of what happened.

In a separate tweet, Morente clarified that she has made peace with her experience studying in Ateneo. She encourages the fans, or bashers, to do the same.

Morente’s journey to becoming one of the PVL’s top stars is a sight to behold. With critics still poring over her past to this day, perhaps that makes her success even sweeter.
