San Miguel ace point guard Chris Ross knew the Beermen haven’t lost a game since the onset of the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup.

What he didn’t know was that the team is three wins away from pulling off an elimination round sweep, something that hasn’t been done in the PBA in about 10 years.

That’s because Ross, one of the vocal leaders of this rampaging squad, is just locked in game in and game out.

“We haven’t talked about it one time. We’re worried about each game. I honestly didn’t know we were 7-0 until one of the coaches told me,” said Ross when asked by reporters about the prospect of a sweep after their win over Magnolia on Friday, April 26.

“We’re going in there, we’re working hard, approaching each game the same. If it comes as a win, it comes as a win.”

The match against NLEX on Sunday, April 28, is no exception.

The Beermen go for an immaculate 9-0 when they tackle the Road Warriors in the 6:15 p.m. tussle at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

But expect resistance from the NLEX side that is eager to arrest a two-game slump after a 5-1 start to the All-Filipino Conference.

Robert Bolick stands at the forefront of the Road Warriors’ charge, but he would need all the help he can get against a healthy and complete San Miguel lineup.

Meanwhile, Magnolia looks to rebound from a stinging loss against the Beermen.

But unless Chris Newsome sits out this match after hurting his knee against Phoenix, it won’t be a breeze against a Meralco side that is also desperate barge into the playoff picture at 4-5.
