After competing on the field for the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge, EJ Obiena and the rest of the top pole vaulters like Ersu Sasma, Thibaut Collet, and Ersu Sasma are all set for a beach adventure.
EJ Obiena is making sure his guests will get the full Filipino experience.
That’s why Obiena is bringing the world-class athletes who competed in the Atletang Ayala World Pole Vault Challenge to one of the country’s pristine beaches in El Nido, Palawan.
Obiena bared this after lording over his home meet that he made happen through various partners like Ayala Land, Smart, and MVP Sports Foundation.
“We’re bringing them to Palawan,” said Obiena of the trip covered by Ayala.
Save for Piotr Lisek, everyone from the lineup is joining the trip.
Obiena and the rest of the pole vaulters are already looking forward to their Palawan adventure.
“I think it’s gonna be a good time for them. We’ll have a good time. We’ll have a couple of parties and celebrate this season,” said Obiena.
In one of his best performances this season, Obiena topped over the Manila competition, a good consolation after his down performance in Tokyo for the World Athletics Championship.
Obiena and Thibaut Collet both cleared 5.80m, before engaging in a duel at the height of 5.90m.
But as both vaulters failed to clear the final mark, Obiena won via countback as he cleared 5.80m in less attempts.
Lisek ended up with bronze in the tournament that also saw Ersu Sasma, Matt Ludwig, Austin Millers, Oleg Zernikel, Menno Vloon, and Filipino Hokett delos Santos strut their stuff.
