Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic each scored 39 points against separate opponents, but Serbia and Slovenia are going in opposite directions in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket.
Serbia is among the early Round of 16 qualifiers in the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket, leaning on three-time MVP Nikola Jokic’s herculean effort to beat Latvia.
Jokic pulled of 39 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three steals as the Serbian’s survived home bet Latvia in Group A over in Riga, 84-80.
39 points were Jokic’s national team career-high, and are now also the most points scored by a Serbian in EuroBasket play.
Other early qualifiers for the Round of 16 are Germany, Finland, and Turkey, all sharing the same 3-0 record as Serbia.
In other games, Luka Doncic surpassed 1,000 points with Slovenia’s senior national team after firing 39 points against France.
However, his effort was not enough as it was Sylvain Francisco and his 32 points that stole the show, leading the French to a 103-95 win.
France improved to 2-0 in Group D, while Slovenia is 0-2.
Meanwhile, defending EuroBasket champion Spain is on the board in Group C, beating Bosnia and Herzegovina, 88-67.
