And now that the country is celebrating its 126th Independence Day, Hidilyn has expressed a touching message for her homeland.
“As a Philippine national athlete, it’s my pride and honor to give my best in training and competitions to represent the Philippines because you are worth fighting for and representing. Happy Independence Day, Philippines!,” she wrote in her caption on Instagram.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics gold medalist is now focusing on shaping the future through the Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Academy, focusing on grassroots coaching to nurture the aspiring champions.
