Denice “The Menace” Zamboanga will still get a chance to show why she deserves to be considered among the top atomweights in ONE Championship.

Making a quick pivot after the cancellation of her ONE Atomweight MMA world title fight with the injured Stamp Fairtex, the Filipino fighter will now take on Noelle “Lil’ Monkey” Grandjean at ONE 167: Tawanchai vs. Nattawut II at the Impact Arena in Bangkok on June 8.

It’s a massive opportunity for Zamboanga to prove that she’s indeed championship caliber as she turns her attention to the French-Thai grappler.

But despite the changes, Grandjean actually has a lot of similarities with that of Stamp.

Before joining Tiger Muay Thai, she was training with Stamp and Zamboanga at Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya a few years back.

Now on opposing ends, Zamboanga and Grandjean will mix it up as they seek to move up the contenders’ ladder and prove themselves worthy of challenging their former training partner.

For Grandjean, it’s a double-edged sword as she understands the dangers of taking this fight with just three weeks to train but also aware of the dividends which await shall she emerge victorious.

“A lot of people would want to get this opportunity and I just can’t let this opportunity slide,” she said of her decision to take this fight on short notice.

“It’s my job and I want to make the most of this chance that has been given to me.”

With the ONE Atomweight MMA world title bout between Zamboanga and Stamp now out of the picture, the show will now be bannered by the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai clash between Tawanchai PK. Saenchai and “Smokin” Jo Nattawut.

Beloved ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon also marks his return in kickboxing when he takes on Denis Puric.
