Fun and games before competing with the best in Budapest.
Pole vaulter EJ Obiena managed to sneak in a bit of humor ahead of a tough World Athletics Championships in Budapest.
He shared an awkward photo of himself while attempting to clear the bar and encouraged reactions from fans.
They were ready to step up to the challenge.
"Thinking about life choices," one answer read.
Another fan shared that EJ leaping to the sky with his pole is quite similar to Harry Potter playing Quidditch.
Maybe EJ could vault all the way to the moon.
It's a brief respite for the Tokyo Olympian, who will be looking to replicate his 2022 bronze medal finish or improve on it at the World Athletics Championships.
Obiena had jumped to world no. 2 in the rankings last July 18, but slipped again to no. 3 last July 25, with USA's Christopher Nilsen, pardon the pun, vaulting ahead of the Filipino.
His best performance came last June, after clearing six meters at the Sparebanken Vest Bergen Jump Challenge in Norway, resetting his own national record.
Also joining Obiena in Budapest are Eric Cray and Robyn Brown, who will compete at the 400m hurdles. The competition will start on August 19 and end on August 27.
