The gold medal drive continues for Team USA in men’s volleyball.

The Americans hacked out a tough win over Brazil Tuesday (Philippine time), taking the 26-24, 28-30, 25-19, 25-19 decision to move on to the semifinals for the first time since Rio 2016.

After a sorry 10th place finish in Tokyo 2020, Team USA are now two wins away from their first gold medal since Beijing 2008.

Matthew Anderson starred for the United States, playing his best game of these Olympics and putting up a game-high 20 points on 17 attacks and three blocks.

TJ Defalco also had a big game for Team USA, going for 16 points. Max Holt and Aaron Russell were also in double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.

After dropping the extended second set, Team USA got right back to work and finished the job accordingly in the third and fourth, setting up a semis showdown with world no. 1 Poland.

Alan Souza and Ricardo Lucarelli had 16 and 15 points, respectively, but Brazil’s first loss of the tournament came at the most inopportune time as they now drop out of medal contention.
