Denice Zamboanga has to wait a little bit longer for her ONE world title aspirations.

ONE Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex announced on Tuesday that she suffered a knee injury in the height of her preparation for Zamboanga ahead of their supposed main event clash at ONE 167 on June 8.

The 26-year-old revealed how she twisted her knee and landed awkwardly during a sparring session. An MRI later revealed that the charismatic Thai superstar suffered a torn meniscus, officially taking her out of the stacked card against Zamboanga.

In a somber statement, a heartbroken Stamp addressed her supporters, apologizing for missing out in ONE’s return to the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

“I’m sorry that I didn’t get on stage for everyone to cheer on,” Stamp said in a statement.

“I worked hard and I was very focused for this fight. [But] accidents can happen all the time.”

With nothing to do but rest and go through therapy after her scheduled surgery, Stamp now focuses on getting healthier.

“I promise that I’ll do my best [in] therapy and I’ll come back the best as well,” she added.

If there’s any consolation to fans, Zamboanga should remain on ONE 167.

Though it won’t be for the world title, the promotion is now looking for a replacement for the Filipina contender.

The card remains a solid one despite the cancellation of the main event, as Tawanchai PK Saenchai defends his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title against “Smokin” Jo Nattawut.

ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon is also on the card as he returns to kickboxing to take on the surging Denis Puric.
