Ryan Garcia has got some serious Twitter beef with someone he is intimately familiar with.

That someone is legendary boxer-turned-boxing promoter Oscar dela Hoya, who on Friday threw some haymakers at the young Garcia on Twitter.

The irony of it all? King Ryan is one of dela Hoya’s fighters, as he is under contract with Golden Boy Promotions, the promotional outfit the former world champion founded.

The Garcia-dela Hoya Twitter beef appears to have started over a misunderstanding as to who Garcia will be fighting next, with King Ryan looking one way and The Golden Boy looking the other.

On Wednesday, Garcia tweeted the names of three fighters whom he said he would love to fight next: Rolly Romero, Isaac Cruz, and Teofimo López.

But, on Thursday, reports came out that dela Hoya was looking to set up a fight with Manny Pacquiao—a bout that dela Hoya believes will be “huge.”

King Ryan, however, was not feeling the direction his own promoter was taking. And, on Thursday, he went to Twitter once more to categorically shut down any notion of a fight with the Filipino eight-division champion.

“This isn’t happening!!” Garcia wrote. “I said what I wanted… It’s frustrating… tired of this.”

Things went downhill from there.

On Friday, dela Hoya sent out a couple of vitriol-laced tweets essentially blasting his prized ward and blaming him for his one-sided knockout loss to Gervonta Davis in their April mega fight.

Garcia has not responded yet, but a strained relationship with dela Hoya is likely to affect the young fighter’s career, which has already hit a snag after that aforementioned loss to Tank.
