FEU looks to reclaim glory days by tapping Tamaraws legend as new head coach

FEU looks to reclaim glory days by tapping Tamaraws legend as new head coach

Last season, the FEU Tamaraws failed to make it to the Final Four for the first time in eight years. This perhaps was the final straw that had FEU head coach Olsen Racela and the Tamaraws parting ways last December. After a month, the school announced that their new Men’s Basketball Head Coach would be former Tamaraw Denok Miranda.

As a coach, Miranda has been part of the FEU staff since 2018. He had also been a head coach in the regional basketball league MPBL for Laguna team, Luxxe Slim.

As a player, before heading into the PBA, Miranda was a solid point guard who suited up for the Tamaraws back in the early 2000s. Playing alongside fellow Tams legend Arwind Santos, Miranda helped FEU capture back-to-back UAAP titles, in 2003 and 2004.

Although, he’s in for a big challenge, Miranda won’t be coming to the UAAP sidelines without a strong helping hand as former King Tamaraw Johnny Abarrientos will serve as his consultant.

With FEU blood running in his veins, Miranda is expected to bring renewed passion to a Tamaraws squad seeking to regain its former glory.
