De La Salle University once again rules UAAP men’s basketball after outlasting the erstwhile champion University of the Philippines, 80-72, in the winner-take-all Game 3 of the Season 88 Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday, December 17.

In front of 24,339 spectators, the Green Archers completed the 2-1 Finals series victory against the Fighting Maroons for their 11th men’s basketball title.

Graduating team captain Mike Phillips gets a fitting exit with the win, leading La Salle to its second championship in three years. Both titles were at UP's expense.

This Season 88 championship marks the first for Jacob Cortez, Mason Amos, and Kean Baclaan, who joined the Green Archers back in Season 87.
