The UST Growling Tigresses are the UAAP Season 88 women's basketball champions, reclaiming the title with a dominant Game 3 win over the NU Lady Bulldogs.
The University of Santo Tomas is back on top of the UAAP women’s basketball landscape after overcoming National University, 79-64, in the winner-take-all Game 3 of the Season 88 Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday, December 14.
After an 11-point first quarter, UST exploded in the succeeding periods and stifled the now-former champion Lady Bulldogs en route to a commanding title victory.
This marks the 13th UAAP title for the Growling Tigresses and their second in the last three years. UST last won the title after also beating NU in Game 3 back in Season 86, but lost in three games in Season 87.
It’s also a proper farewell for graduating seniors Kent Pastrana and Eka Soriano, who led the Growling Tigresses to a 16-1 record in Season 88.
